For example, this applies to large overcompensated LED or fluorescent lighting installations, such as airports, or installations with long buried medium voltage distribution lines, such as major infrastructures (ports, airports, etc.), mines, telecommunication stations in urban areas such as radio transmitters, GSM, and TV, etc. These underground cables have a significant capacitive component that causes overcompensation of the system. This can lead to penalties on electricity bills in some countries due to the high capacitive demand, but more importantly, it causes an increase in line voltage that can damage sensitive equipment connected to it. It can also sometimes lead to malfunctioning of certain equipment (emergency generators, for example).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This issue can also be observed in industrial areas, large campuses, solar farms, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The solution to this problem is to load the system by induction with shunt reactors. These reactors can be used in single-phase or three-phase configurations.
